Engineering (E)

  1. Engineering Phase (E)

Engineering Phase (E) is the first and most crucial stage in project execution, divided into two main categories:

    1. Basic Design

This phase defines the overall project framework and specifies its key components. During this stage, a technology provider is selected to determine the required equipment for the project execution. Additionally, the technical roles and responsibilities of both the client and the contractor are outlined and also specifying which equipment should be procured and at what capacity to meet the project objectives.

    1. Detail Design

Detail design serves as a vital link between basic design and project execution. In this phase, the necessary drawings and documents required for the selected equipment are developed. In fact, compared to the basic design, detail design provides more precise and comprehensive engineering documents and drawings.

    Key Engineering Disciplines

The core engineering disciplines involved in a project include:

    1. Process Engineering
    2. Mechanical/Equipment Engineering
    3. Material Handling
    4. Civil & Structural Engineering
    5. Architecture
    6. Electrical Engineering
    7. Instrumentation & Control
    8. Piping & Utilities
    9. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
    10. Planning & Document Control (DCC)

    Engineering Phase Deliverables

The engineering phase is responsible for designing the plant’s main components, developing the Equipment List, and generating detailed Data Sheets for all equipment and machines. Additionally, all the necessary drawings for equipment layout and installation at the project site are produced and issued.

The key responsibilities of the engineering division include:

    • Preparing technical documents, specifications, and drawings for equipment design and fabrication
    • Developing documents and technical drawings related to the equipment installation
    • Producing engineering documents for Basic Design and Detail Design
    • Preparing procurement requests and technical specifications for equipment and materials

    Project Consultancy Services

During the consultancy phase, the limited data provided by clients may not completely cover all aspects of plant construction. Therefore, expert opinions from experienced professionals play a key role in plant design. Saman Fanavar Farabin employs a team of highly skilled specialists in the mining and mineral industries. Only experienced experts can provide precise engineering consultations and deliver comprehensive insights into mineral processing plants and mine valuation.

After analyzing the client’s project objectives, Farabin provides a comprehensive report, including information on:

    • Mine exploitation (exploration & extraction)
    • Mineral beneficiation
    • Estimation of initial investment costs
    • Profitability analysis of operations

    Preliminary Design Phase

In this phase, the flowsheet and mineral processing conditions are determined based on industrial expertise and similarities with previous projects. This approach ensures maximum utilization of technical potential for different mining projects. As the foundation for subsequent project phases, initial investments are based on this stage. The key actions include:

    • Defining the scale of the processing plant, equipment, construction schedule, and process flowsheet
    • Selecting a suitable plant site
    • Conducting feasibility studies
    • Preparing a project proposal
